Control Strategy
Automation in small scale laboratory and pilot plants must have the same basic functionality as big production plants. Control loops, supervisory functions and event and time driven activities are required. In batch plants a recipe control system allows a step-wise manufacturing procedure.
Industrial process control systems could be used, but are too expensive in most cases. To reach a similar level of comfort, we use a SCADA Software which is also used in a process control system. The requirements to the number of control points are usually only 1 to 10 % of a production plants. Therefore we can use medium class Process Logical Controls (PLC) and connect it to a PC with a Profibus adapter. As we usually have a lot of different signals we use a modular system which we can equip with the in- and outputs that we need.
